| The attractive town of Zug is characterised by its distinctive late Gothic period buildings of the old city and by its lovely natural surroundings.
Zug is situated on the crystal blue Zugersee and framed by the woodland plateau of the 600 meter Zugerberg. The town is also known to one of the richest in Switzerland with multinational companies flocking to the city to build shiny office buildings, shops and restaurants. |

Museum in the Burg - located in the centre of theold town, the Burg Museum is te oldest building in Zug. The museum houses a varied display of historical objects of Zug as well as temporary exhibits.
Zytturm - this is the tallest building in the old town which was constructed in the 13th century as a watch tower and latter renovated in 1574. Below the towers clock face are the shields of the 8 Swiss Cantons at the time of the towers onstruction as well as an astronomical clock and a beautful late Gothic angel statue below the archway.
Zugersee - the lake has a jetty from where boats depart taking you on a scenic cruise, with great views of the Pilatus and Bernese Alps. The promenade around the lake is a great place to take a sunset stroll.
Kirche St Oswald - dedicated to St Oswald of Northumbria and built between 1478 and 1545, the interior of the church is decorated in a decedant Baroque style. Above the double portal of the church is a beautiful carved statue of Mary flanked by St Michael and St Oswald and there are sevral 19th century murals above the choir.
Kunsthaus Zug - the building housing the art gallery is located in the picturesque centre of Zug and the gallery features 5 main exhibits every year of 20th century art from the likes of Klimt and Schiele as well as Swiss artists and many permanent exhibits. There is also a great bar in the gallery where visitors can have a drink. |
| Zug Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events |
Zug Lake Festival - held in June every year, this is Zug's biggest festival held along the lakes promenade. There are food stalls and live musical performances as well as a huge fireworks display.
Zug Jazz Festival - held in August every year, the old town comes alive to the sounds of vibrant jazz. |
