The tiny town of Taesch with its about 850 residents is located just 6km from the famous skiing mecca of Zermatt and is a great place to base yourself if your first love is skiing.
The town itself is located in the lush Taesch Valley surrounded by mountains and woods with lakes flowwing through the valley, giving visitors the choice of simply sitting back and enjoying the atmosphere or participating in a range of activities from skiing, climbing and hiking to playing golf. |

Schali Lake - located in the valley between the towns of Taesch and Randa, the idyllic lake is a wonderful place to picnic and barbaque. The lake is also a paradise for children with lots of open space and a great playground.
Sleigh Rides - one of the towns favourite activities is the 6km course starting at Taeschberg and ending in the town. There are sleigh rides for every age as well as organised horse drawn sleigh rides.
Randa - situated 15km from Taesch, the pleasant village of Randa is located in the centre of green medows surrounded by forests. The town has a typical mountan village atmosphere and is a great place for hiking and walking.
Cross Country Skiing - the Taesch Valley is famous for its cross country trails leading through flat terrain past quaint, weathered houses. The trails cater to most skill levels and are from 3km to 6km long.
Zermatt - only 6km from Taesch, Zermatt is world famous for its stunning Matterhorn Mountain and fantstic skiing opportunities. Zermatt is also the place to go if you are looking for vibrant nightlife and gourmet restaurants.
Matterhorn Golf Club - located in the Valley between Randa and Taesch, the course is divided into two parts by the River Vispa and is almost level making it easy to walk around. |
| Taesch Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events |
Tag Von Maria Himmelfahrt - (day of Maria's ascension) held on 15 August every year, this religious and folk festival starts off with a yoddel mass at 11am. Later there is a huge parade and a feast in the town centre.
Horu Trophy - held in January avery year, this is one of the biggest open air curling events in Europe and a unique experiance for visitors that have never seen the sport of curling. |
