| We rented bicycles to check out Biel, the bike paths are great here and it was fun. The public transport is good but to get to out of way places, a car was the best, and the roads are excellent.. |

| The picturesque town of Biel is surrounded by lush, green hills of the Jura range and has three lakes around it, Lake Biel, Murten and Neuchatel.
Biel has a vibrat new town and a nostalgic old town and is the only town in Switzerland that it completely bilingual. German and French are both spoken in Biel and all street names are given in both languages. |

Biel Essentials |
Lake Biel - this scenic area can be explored either by taking a boat cruise on the river out to Peter's Insel (island) or by biking or walking along the lovely lakeside paths.
Old Town - the elegant and beautiful old town of Biel is best explored on foot. Wonder the narrow streets and marvel at the elegant villa's and Patrician houses. Do not miss seeing the heavenly 15th century Gothic city church that is wonderfuly preserved.
Seeteufel Zoo - located in the lovely natue reserve of the Aare River, the zoo has a great variety of exotic animals. There is also a popular sea aquarium as well as a petting zoo and playground for children.
Museum Neuhaus - one of the most interesting museums in Biel, it focuses on local art and history. Exhibits are mixed and varied, everything from costumes and paintings to cameras and cinema posters. The museum also hosts interesting temporary exhibitions

Burgplatz - this lovely open square in the old town is lined with quaint little old shuttered houses. In the centre of the square is the Fountain of Justice that was built in 1714. |
